Who We Are
Founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns, the Birds of Fresno Association began when Karen Sopiopolis relied upon the calming escape of birdwatching in those challenging times. Inspired by the peace and solace it brought to her heart, she felt compelled to share this experience and foster a shared appreciation of birdlife with the Fresno community and greater Fresno area.
Since then, BOFA has blossomed into a vibrant group dedicated to bird appreciation, education, and local conservation efforts. Through our efforts, we aim to protect Fresno’s diverse bird species and preserve their habitats while building meaningful connections between people and nature. Our resources, events, educational programs, and guided birdwatching walks provide enriching experiences for bird enthusiasts of all levels of dedication.
